I have many years experience in the fitness industry, and would like to take this opportunity to tell you about my journey into Pilates and Sports therapy.
With an interest in Martial Arts since a young age and after practicing Tae Kwon Do since the age of 12, I became the British Tae Kwon Do champion in 1994 at the age of 16. My love and fascination for the complexity of Tae Kwon Do and other martial arts, gave me an appreciation for the art whereby I came to discover and understand the timing, precision and dedication that a world-class martial artist must have.
From having had an eventful sporting career and playing my first game of rugby at the age of 12, by the age of 16, I was lucky enough not only to train at a county level but to also play at a national level as a tight head prop. The more games I played, and as time went on however, I could already feel that playing at this intense level was taking its toll on my body and game. Frequent positioning in scrums, resulted in pain and aggravation in my neck and lower back
It is from these experiences, that I chose to become a Sports Therapist and rehabilitate those with similar experiences. As a fully qualified Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist, I am also studying to become an Osteopath, which will allow me to further my knowledge and become a more rounded therapist.
Dedicated to my career of providing therapy and rehabilitation, I also teach Pilates and have found this to be a useful practice for reliving lower back and other muscular skeletal pain. This is because of the vast therapeutic nature of the movement patterns of Pilates.
Through my own practice of the art, I have found Pilates to have positively helped with my lower back pain, Therefore I continue to use pilates along with massage with my clients to help them:
